Have you ever had a meal so good you would hop on the next flight back just to have it one more time? If yes, we feel you. If no… be warned, you might be booking your next WestJet flight straight to Halifax, Nova Scotia to give this one a try.
Here is the meal we are flying back to the east coast for:
The seafood at Edna Restaurant in Nova Scotia. You know a restaurant is good when you go there three times on a five-day trip. Everything is good here, especially the scallops. Seared to perfection this tasty dish has me dreaming of a flight back to the east coast for one more taste.
Where: Edna Restaurant – 2053 Gottingen Street, Halifax, NS B3K 3B2
To start: Fresh oysters and a Kale caesar salad made with applewood smoked bacon, croutons, pecorino romano and garlic anchovy dressing.
To follow: Scallops with parsnip purée, charred leeks, Bulwark cider reduction and parsnip chips.
To pair: The unexpected pair which is made of Tequila, Aperol, cucumber, lemon and cinnamon.
How to travel to Nova Scotia:
Nova Scotia is easier to get to than you think and if you book ahead you can get some great deals… like only a few more dollars than flying from YVR to YYZ.
What to pack:
Halifax is like any other major city, dress to impress. But, remember to bring a raincoat and some warm layers as it sees quick fluctuations in weather similar to other coastal cities.
How to fly:
Fly non-stop from Calgary, Edmonton, Ottawa, Toronto, St. John’s (NFLD), Deer Lake and Sydney or, fly from Vancouver and Montreal to Halifax with only one stopover.
What to bring home:
You can’t go to the east coast and not bring home some gifts for your friends. Find out what to grab at the local farmers’ markets here.
