With festival season right around the corner, the year-long wait to find out which musicians are coming to town is almost over—Ottawa’s RBC Bluesfest is the latest fest to share their lineup.
The festival announced Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Muse, LCD Soundsystem and P!nk as headliners at the 10-day-long festival. Bluesfest will be Petty’s first time playing the capital since 1981.
Ranked by Billboard as one of the top-10 most successful music fests in the world, Bluesfest is known for gathering an eclectic collection of musicians and festival goers. Other artists on the Bluesfest lineup range all the way from Migos to Phantogram to Melissa Etheridge. It’s also packed with homegrown talent—Tegan and Sara, July Talk, Daniel Caesar, Sam Roberts Band, Death From Above 1979, A Tribe Called Red, Matt Andersen, Bob Moses, Begonia and Wide Mouth Mason will all make appearances.
Bluesfest has been referred to as the Canadian equivalent of huge events like Coachella, Bonnaroo and the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. Whatever you decide to compare it to, one thing’s for sure–it’s a bucket list, must-go-before-you-die festival. Don’t believe us? Just ask international festival magazine Everfest.
The 23rd iteration of the fest runs from July 6-16 and goes down at LeBreton Flats, right in the heart of downtown Ottawa.
