PEI is known for its seafood and Anne of Green Gables, but what you didn’t know is that is gaining attention for its single track mountain biking trails. Yeah, that’s right, mountain biking in PEI. Not only is it a thriving sport, but it is also a great way to see a unique side of PEI, and best of all the trails are free. From beginner to advanced trails there is something for everyone.

We went to Brookvale Nordic Centre, which has a series of trails suitable for everyone. For something a little easier check out the green loop and if you want to step it up check out the red loop. To see all the trails on your phone check out the trails map app featured in our tech article here.

Tours to join

We joined up with Cycling PEI which is a volunteer cycling group. It was great to ride with locals as know the best routes to go on for any level. The locals showed us the best of the mountain bike trails in PEI and how to best navigate them when we come back solo.

Where to stay

The biking is so fun you will want to bike for a few days. Why not stay at The Great George, The Harbour House or The Holman Grand Hotel for a few days, so you can really get to know the trails.

When to go

The summer is the best time to go as the weather is beautiful and the trails are typically dry. Why not plan your trip the same time as the Cavendish Beach Festival or the PEI International Shell Fish Festival and enjoy the best of mountain biking and PEI all in one trip.
