Imagine dining outside in a space designed by modern architects, situated on a frozen river, serving tasting menus from some of Canada’s top chefs. If dining on a frozen river in Winnipeg isn’t enough for you, they have expanded to offer a dining experience in a stone fort built hundreds of years ago, now a designated National Historic Site … Talk about a unique eating experience to Celebrate Canada’s 150th Anniversary! Have your dinner on ice at RAW:almond, a pop-up fine-dining experience on the frozen river at The Forks in Winnipeg. This unique event is hosted for 21 days and features tasting menus from over 30 of the North America’s best chefs. The chefs create a special surprise menu each night—guests never know what they will get. RAW:almond often sees people returning to try food from the other chefs, as they have had popular chefs cook like Makoto Ono, Mitchell Bates, Vikram Vij, Gus Stieffenhofer-Brandson and Blaine Robinson. Running for the past five years, this event continues to get bigger and better as RAW:almond grows into its full potential.

Last year was the first year of the newest event, RAW:churchill. The event is different than RAW:almond because it is in the remote north of Manitoba and is an all-inclusive experience. Although more expensive to attend than RAW:almond this experience is one you can’t get anywhere else. Picture being in the polar-bear capital of the world, and going for dinner in a tent-like structure in the stony clutches of Prince of Wales Fort – a 300-year-old Parks Canada site built by the Hudson Bay Company at the height of the fur trade. To make it even better, after dinner they switch off the lights so you can watch the northern lights dance in the sky above you. The event was a huge success last year and you can still purchase tickets to the dinner as part of a winter adventure package from Frontiers North Adventures. When to go
RAW:almond is January 20 – February 13 (closed January 24 + 28, February 2 + 8).
RAW:churchill is March 3-11, 2017.
How to get tickets
The live ticket launch for Raw:almond is Sunday, December 11th at 9:00am to 3:00pm at The Forks Market (doors at 7:00am). The online ticket launch is Monday, December 12th at 9:00am on www.raw-almond.com.
You can purchase tickets to the dinner as part of a multi-day package from Frontiers North Adventures. For those looking to just buy a ticket for dinner, tickets will be released later on to the waitlist. To get on that list join the waitlist here.
One RAW:almond ticket is $125 + 17% Service + 13% Tax (total $162.50).
