Bar George is the first restaurant in Québec opened by the Oliver & Bonacini group (from star-chef Michael Bonacini). Located inside the very posh Mount Stephen Hotel, Bar George serves British inspired specialties with a decor both luxurious and classic. To get there, you walk through Sir George Stephen’s old house preserved from the 1800’s. Bar George’s menu was created by Anthony Walsh from Toronto’s Canoe and Kevin Ramasawmy from Maison Boulud.
The LOV restaurant (which stands for Local-Organic-Vegan) can boast being one of the most successful new restaurants in Montreal. Chef Stéphanie Audet, who has made her mark in raw cuisine, has created an original, colorful and diversified menu with plant based meals. You’ll feel like you’ve stepped into Pinterest with the plant inspired decor and the vegan/vegetarian dishes that would trick even the most skeptical meat eaters.
Battuto is well-known Québec City chef Guillaume St-Pierre’s newest project. This is a micro-restaurant seats only 24 people spread out over 400 square feet. The menu offers classic Italian dishes: homemade pasta, charcuterie and focaccia. Its open-space design is aimed at encouraging more conversations between the chefs and the clients, for evenings of rich interaction.
The Commissariat’s name stems from its location right between two police stations in Québec City’s Lebourgneuf district. With its casual “bistronomy” concept, it offers an affordable bistro-style menu and attentive, personalized service. The Commissariat has been hugely successful since its opening both because of its quality food and relaxed ambiance.
Le Carlito, the restaurant that drew crowds for more than 12 years in Trois-Rivières, has closed to get off to an even better start. The building which was home to the popular restaurant, has been revamped to welcome La Maison de Débauche. Here chef Martin Lampron has put together a festive menu, ideal for lively evenings among friends. Its decor is set up to accommodate groups and events. A long bar and numerous booths are perfect for group reservations and for ordering numerous dishes to share.
Baumman restaurant offers a modern cuisine inspired by classic smokehouses. Its menu is primarily composed of regional products from the Eastern Townships and includes a variety of meats and other regional smoked products. The chef-owners behind this new Sherbrooke restaurant are Suzy Rainville, Kevin Ranger and Mathieu Cayer Brunet, three friends with a long-held dream of opening a fun restaurant for foodies, where one can eat well in a relaxed environment.
