Did you know Saskatchewan produces over 70% of the mustard grown for Canada? Now, that’s a lot of mustard. And what better way to celebrate the mustard capital of the world than throwing a festival called The Great Saskatchewan Mustard Festival to showcase mustard and the unique foods that can be made with it.
At the festival, you can find everything mustard. Here are five things you probably never knew could be made from mustard:
mustard bread pudding
mustard macaroni and cheese
mustard filled butter tarts
If that’s not enough to entice you to visit the festival, the entry ticket includes all you can eat access. Thirty local chefs battle it out to create the best mustard inspired dish and you can taste it all.And let me tell you, they sure get creative.
While you are feasting on all-you-can-eat mustard-themed dishes, you can quench your thirst on locally crafted beer in the beer garden (yes they have wine too). On top of great food and drinks, enjoy live music and the views of Wascana Lake into the afternoon. Want to go check it out? Read along below.
