What do you love most about your hometown, St. John’s, NL?

I love the beautiful scenery and the local shops but most of all, the friendly people. Everyone seems to greet you with a smile and a story.

What are your favourite things to do in your hometown ?

I love to go shopping in the downtown area of St. John’s on Duckworth Street and Water Street, where you will always find some local gems. Find out some of my favourite shops in the video My Favourite Places In Newfoundland below…

However, you can never go wrong taking a hike along the East Coast Trail, watching the icebergs float in and keepings your eye out for whales.

Where are your favourite places to eat?

St. John’s local restaurant scene has really taken off in the past few years. Everyone will tell you to try brunch at Mallard Cottage. For dinner, The Merchant Tavern and Chinched Bistro are at the top of my list. However, if you are just looking for home baked goods and coffee Rocket Bakery and Fixed are a must.

Where are your favourite places to go out?

If you are looking for a fun night out George Street will have you covered. There are more bars per square foot there than anywhere else in North America so there is bound to be something for everyone. However, my new favourite place to hang out is the Adelaide Oyster House. It has the coolest atmosphere, loud music and the most amazing shares. It’s the perfect place to go with a small group of friends, have a cocktail and some oysters.
Do you have any activities or adventures that remind you of home?

Blueberry picking in the late summer and early fall always remind me of home. More all-year-round activities that remind me of home are taking walks through Petty Harbor or driving to Cape Spear, the most Easterly point in North America.

What is it about your hometown that makes it unique?

The people. You will be welcome everywhere you go.

Who was your hometown hero growing up and why?

I grew up in the Goulds, which is a small town in St. John’s. There were some pretty amazing people that came from the Goulds and went up through our high school, St. Kevin’s. Two of those people were Allan Hawco, an actor and producer, and Alan Doyle of the band Great Big Sea. I admired their dedication to the arts, and though they perused careers that took them all over the world they are still dedicated and strong Newfoundlanders. I aspired to be that, and still do!

I love the beautiful scenery and the local shops but most of all, the friendly people.

What is it about your hometown that inspires you?

The strong culture and musical history that is deep rooted in everyone!

Wishing this could last!

How did your hometown influence you?

My hometown has taught me to me grateful, humble and positive. I grew up surrounded by the salt of the earth and I feel incredibly lucky to have been raised in the Goulds, St. John’s.

Outside of your hometown, which city or town in Canada is your favourite, and why?

Vancouver. It’s coastal, it’s diverse, there is a strong movement towards a local and environmentally conscious lifestyle and it feels like a second home!
