The owners are very clear: “If you’re scared of heights (even just a little), this activity is not for you!” On the other hand, if you feel like a little (risk-free) adventure, give the Canopy Cycle a try.
Located in the Eastern Townships, Au diable vert offers this very unusual activity. Attached up to 100 feet high, the recumbent bicycle lets you take a tour of the forest. Suspended on rigid, secure cables, the Canopy Cycle is perfect for daring adventurers.
Advancing slowly to the rhythm of your pedal strokes, the course should take you about 45 minutes. Since the twenty bicycles are all attached to the same cable, no passing is possible; it’s therefore pointless to race to the finish. Besides getting some physical activity, the main goal is to enjoy the scenery.
On this aerial bicycle course, the view is spectacular! Sometimes in the forest, other times riding high above waterfalls and ravines, the course is nothing like traditional bike paths. You’ll want to stop your bicycle every five minutes to take pictures.
The feeling of calm as you float above the trees will make you forget you’re exercising. Magical, isn’t it?
From mid-May to mid-October, there’s a departure every hour from 10am to 4pm. It costs $50 for adults and $35 for children. For safety reasons, people who weigh over 220 lbs. cannot participate in this activity, and children must be at least 140 cm tall.
Unique in Canada, you absolutely have to add this activity to your Canadian bucket list for the Canada 150 celebrations this year.
