If you’re hoping to see a buttload of creatives all in the same Canadian city for a week, then Calgary’s Sled Island Music & Arts Festival is a summer event that you can’t miss.
Following the same model as fests like SXSW, Sled Island collects over 250 bands, comedians, filmmakers and artists and scatters them into 35 venues across the city, turning Calgary into an art-lover’s paradise.
Sled Island’s first wave lineup has already announced Flying Lotus, Converge, Silver Apples, Cloud Nothings, Waxahatchee, Low, Weyes Blood, Wolves in the Throne Room and more as music guests.
In addition to being a performer, producer, rapper, DJ and filmmaker Flying Lotus was announced as 2017’s guest curator, joining the ranks of past curators including Peaches, John Dwyer of Thee Oh Sees, and CBC Radio’s Grant Lawrence among others.
Stay tuned for even more talent announcements and catch the 11th iteration of Sled Island from June 21-25.
